Christian Martin - Ghost (Trapez 106)

We welcome this fantastic producer on Trapez Christin Martin, with this piece of music which is quite different from most of what we get today.

The title track „Ghosts“ feels like as if Klaus Nomi and Kraftwerk were performing together... something we would have loved to have seen but which never happened.
This track is not not for the people who love it safe but for the adventurous and the wicked. Voices like sirens striking with high pitched tongues being counteracted by basslines with a surface that can only be described as rough as chunks of splintered steel.
A brilliant stop and go feeling shows that Christian Martin is the master on the steering wheel when it comes to controlling the movement.

“Work” is a groove box, a cool dubbed out steady going beat that never stops, never rests.
A track that you will need when playing on after-hours. A track that does not let you down. Sometimes it gets really cool, quirky, silly and goes into acid... crystal clear, sharp as a diamond. Then suddenly it turns back to normal, returning to the steady groove, just before Christian Martin throws in the Conga... well this guy is really the MAMBO-ACID KING of techno house!

„Song for Pop“ is a downbeat-drum and bass-ambient-acid-dub-soul-electronic-krautrock-track.
A mega blast from the past, a massive bassline rocker slow and heavy.
Try it open air!

Dominik Eulberg - daten-ubertragungs-kusschen rmx (Traum 121)

Yes, Dominik Eulberg is one of the few techno artists from Germany who composes music out of a whole range of classical elements such as melodies, analogue synth sounds and a worthy treasure of self made elements.

In Dominik´s world there is still place for romance and dreams opposed to the hard realism of the techno world and the music made on demand. So we were happy when we found in Rodriquez Jr a remixer who was able to connect Dominik´s world with his own world, keeping the gentle touch of the original but adding a quirky and lively element to it.
If there is something like a perfect remix, this might be it!
Rodriguez Jr mix ends up being a tight and super catchy groover that creates a bouncy movement on the dance floors as well as a happy smile on peoples faces.

Minilogue have used snippets of the song and have created a stream of sound in their „Belledub“ mix. Their thrilling jam session character includes all the knob twisting Minilogue is so famous for when they play live.
Transforming the bloomy original into a dubby style of techno that would go along neatly with the Hardwax dub outputs.
Enjoy Minilogue´s stream of consciousness!
The track comes in a 13 minute vinyl edit an extended digital version.

Minilogue´s “In to the light“ mix worships the same jam session character but keeps things much more ambient, done by a long atmospheric intro and outro... more at ease at relaxed, making contact with Minilogue´s debut on Traum „Certain Things“ (Traum V64).

Riley Reinhold and Cosmic Sandwich- Black Timbre

A long time has passed by since Riley Reinhold aka Triple R and Steve Barnes aka Cosmic Sandwich have recorded together.
The new EP features a brand new track by both of them, called “Black Timbre” as well as two new tracks by Riley Reinhold.

“Black Timbre” is a track that works with the ingredients of all Cosmic Sandwich tracks. It is cool, handcrafted and made with hardware instruments. The track conveys a slack feeling and is very undogmatic but cool.
Riley doing the overdubs and effects on this track, going through his 20 000 vinyl records stripping bits off here and there and putting them all together emerging in “Black Timbre”.
The track is a nice blend of disco and Detroit techno house with build ups that create a bit of tension and releasing it as soon as it reaches its peak.

The flipside features “I Remember”. After Riley Reinhold's success of “Lights Go Out” recently released on MBF LTD 12019, this track is another atmospheric and emotional track.
“I Remember” signalises loneliness in a strong way, also emptiness... nevertheless it is also a sweet track. A track with history in a way.
A track that throws in slashes of guitar sounds and the repetitive vocal “I Remember”, sparse and dry to the bone.
Riley Reinhold has always written tracks in this style starting with “Another Day” and “Someday” on MBF LTD years ago. So it is no surprise that this genre is one he identifies with more than with modern minimal. Desolate and haunting... this track has a bit of goose skin to it.

Digital of remix of "I remember" comes from the young painter Alex Reuter.

Applescal - A mishmash of changing moods (Traum)

Applescal- a mishmash of changing moods (Traum CD22)
After being hailed as one of the break through artists for 2010 by De:Bug magazine, international press and DJ´s such as DJ Hell, Laurent Garnier and more, we are happy to say that Applescal has snug back into his Igloo to record this second full length album for Traum.
Applescal began playing live raw acid sets before he started to fulfil his stated ambition to bring I.D.M. to the Netherlands. His live sets are famous there and by some UK journalists he is called the Nathan Fake from the Netherlands.
The 22 year old boy from Amsterdam is known as a reclusive electronic musician who loves to stay in his self built "cave like" studio. His 13 new tracks are cinematic with moods ranging from uplifting and joyful tracks to dark, melancholic and claustrophobic ones.
Applescal featured various styles on his debut album „A Slaves Commitment“, now his new album, although called a "A Mishmash Of Changing Moods“, has much more of a strong directive and last but not least has evolved in a true masterpiece of storytelling!
Working stronger on a conceptional level has allowed him to pull all the tricks out of the bag.
The whole album feels more classy and is one piece of music which pushes you back in to your seat and does not let you go until the very end.

Miracley crafted, it swings between different moods but keeps the boat on course.
Starting with "The Curle In Me". This is a driving, quirky drum and bass sort of track that works with a disturbing deepness and melancholy which gives room to speculate how the album will evolve and what kind of direction it will take.
The follow up, "A Former Curse", is a short interlude which comes across like a falling star, tumbling and spinning around it's own axis hysterically until it is burned out.
"Dialeague" is a heavy and mighty grinding caterpillar of a track, still almost shy. It steadily discovers fairylike melodies which are pushed through a tiny hole. Whatever it really does, Applescal skilfully builds up a dynamic which is determined by repetition and a great deal of unbelievable uplifting moments.
"The Key Of Genes", picks up this uplifting spirit but exaggerates it to an extend that defies our expectations. The superb composed melody which creates a feeling of fairylike beauty and detachment is unearthly... putting Applescal next to a musician such as the Aphex Twin.
"MC Iron" is a kind of "breeding" track which feels like a trip through an impenetrable jungle, a soundtrack for sure, haunting and full of beauty and tension.
"IB Ok" is full of droning noises, engine like, heavily spinning until it gives up it's life... another interlude.
"In Theory" is somehow a beat that you would not venture to think could work for more that 10 seconds, but somehow by magic Applescal pulls the strings with so much elegance it makes you cry.
